multicultural death

Multicultural, a word that should be confined to history. Overused, poorly used and used as gloss, the word is most often applied as an excuse for not wanting to tackle straight on issues of ethnicity and diversity, particularly those including potential conflict.

artists as colonizers

Estate agents see artists as their best friends, pioneers willing to venture into the danger zones of suburban sprawl bringing class and culture in their wake. The artist as a colonist, a missionary or evangelist, the curator as colonial officer!

spam paranoia and swivel chairs

I think I’m becoming spam paranoid. I was certain that after someone else had taken over our main mail address that most of it would disappear. My peace and quiet lasted for about four hours but then I realised that I had become the target for a new wave of unwanted crud. But this time the content seems more perverse than ever almost metapornography.

Greetings from Montenegro

The latest artist for our new virtual gallery is Alen Aligrudic. I met Alen in Malmö and suggested him for inclusion to Pia Issakson who has curated the artists for the site. We both felt that his work with its dark sense of foreboding deserved wider attention. Alen was born in Tuzla in Bosnia and lives in Copenhagen.
