Behind The Yellow Wallpaper

Behind The Yellow Wallpaper is a theatre piece that takes an audience on a promenade performance through the building of the art centre. In small groups of max seven people, the audience members are led around the building, following how the main character has to change her world to be able to keep on existing. The deeper into the nooks and crannies of the art centre one goes, the more the boundary between the building and the woman disappears, until its hard to tell where one stops and the other begins.

The work with the theatre piece started in fall 2008 when Anne Jonsson and Camilla Vislie examinated how to explode the text The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and tell a story through the building of Tensta Konsthall. During this second step, the artists has invited dancer Noora Neenonen, actor Natalie Ringler, sceongrapher Lise Marker and graphic designer Mathew Newton, to join in and develop the concept.
